At the A+A, SKYLOTEC will focus on new and further developments for rope access. Among other things, the German family-owned company has expanded its product range in the area of motor-driven rope winches - and with it the range of possible applications.
In the field of rope access work, SKYLOTEC has continuously expanded its know-how and manufacturing capabilities in recent years. For example, the family-owned company, which has been developing and producing protective equipment in Germany for over 75 years, is the market leader for motor-driven rope winches (power ascenders).
The battery- or petrol-powered "ActSafe" winches for transporting people or loads are fixed to an anchorage point and are ready for use within a short time. Users can move around reliably secured without using their muscle power. At the A+A, SKYLOTEC is presenting another member of this product family and is thus expanding the areas of application for the devices, which are already used, for example, for window and facade cleaning, rotor blade maintenance on wind turbines, for rescuing people and for tactical access.
Largest carabiner manufacturer in Europe
SKYLOTEC has consistently invested in its Italian subsidary in Cisano Bergamasco and has steadily developed into the largest manufacturer of carabiners in Europe. The role of Italian production within Skylotec is indeed a central one for the entire range of this highly specialised manufacturing: pulleys, ascenders, descenders, carabiners are developed and produced here with a deep knowledge of all production levels. As a result, SKYLOTEC presents the multifunction ascender "Cric" as a novelty, which was specially developed for rope access work and rescue. It scores with the advantage that it can be used in different ways - for example, for ascending on a rope or as a simple pulley for lifting or moving a load. The versatile application possibilities reduce the time required as well as the material and space requirements during use to a minimum.
Broad portfolio in the area of fall protection systems
SKYLOTEC's broad portfolio in the area of fall protection systems is also one of the highlights at the trade fair stand. The family-owned company has repositioned itself in this segment through the acquisition of Secupohl last year. Secupohl, manufacturer of installed systems for fall protection, became known primarily for its main product "Sekurant®". This was the original invention of the single anchor point in 1973 and has since been expanded into a complete product family and celebrates its 50th birthday this year. Thanks to this acquisition, SKYLOTEC now has a complete product range which, in addition to collective protection and horizontal and vertical rope/rail systems with all types of single anchor points, places a strong focus on roof fall protection. The aim is to become the world's leading manufacturer in the field of fall protection systems.
„Scout“ – fall arrester with panic function
At the world's leading trade fair for safe working, the German family-owned company is presenting another impressive innovation: the "Scout" fall arrester. With intuitive operation, it glides along the rope with almost no resistance and remains safely in position even when its temporarily blocked - a problem that has challenged many users until now. This allows users to position themselves optimally at their workstation. Installed on the rope, the "Scout" blocks immediately in the event of a fall or abrupt downward movements - an additional advantage that protects users. In addition, the device has a panic function that minimises the risk of unintentional or deliberate opening and further increases user safety. With the "Scout", the company is once again setting standards in safety and innovation in the field of personal protective equipment.
The "Scout" is robust and made of stainless steel and has a compact design. It is suitable for a user weight between 50 and 150 kilograms and already fulfils the increased requirements of EN 353-2, which will soon be published in an updated version. The fall arrester can be used for work at height in telecommunications and energy supply, in high-bay warehouses and confined spaces, on construction sites and during roof work, as well as during operations by fire brigades, special forces and for rescue.
„Skysafe Pro+“ – smaller, lighter and with a wider weight range
SKYLOTEC has also further developed its "Skysafe Pro" energy absorber range for the A+A: The "Skysafe Pro+" is now suitable for a weight range of 50 to 150 kilograms. It protects a falling person from serious injury because it reduces the forces to a maximum of 6 kN. If, for example, a careless step leads to a fall for workers on roofs, in wind energy or on mobile working platforms, the "Skysafe Pro+" counteracts this.
The lanyard works with two enery absobders. These ensure a moderate reduction of the impact force - depending on the weight of the user. The wide weight range offers several advantages: On the one hand, the risk of a user reaching for a energy absorber that is unsuitable for his weight is reduced. On the other hand, costs can be saved because it is not necessary to purchase a energy absorber tailored to the weight of each user. In addition, the "Skysafe Pro+" is comparatively small and has a low weight. This makes it easy to store and provides reliable protection without restricting users in carrying out their activities.
SKYLOTEC will also be presenting its "Skyvest" airbag waistcoat at the A+A, which is equipped with an intelligent protection system and designed to prevent injuries in the event of falls from low heights. The waistcoat offers maximum safety for activities at heights between 1.70 and 3.20 metres. It is suitable whenever there is a potential hazard but no fall arrest system is required according to EN 363. Already certified by TÜV as personal protective equipment, the "Skyvest" is now also approved as a high-visibility waistcoat according to EN ISO 20471:2013. It is suitable, for example, for electricians or employees in building management, for truck drivers, dock workers, service technicians, garage builders, employees in machine maintenance and servicing or also private individuals who perform activities on a ladder. The patented system can also be combined with a PPE harness.
